These are two of my favorite neighborhoods - Elmwood is near College and Ashby; Claremont to the by Claremont and Ashby. The Claremont neighborhood has the grandest and most expensive homes in Berkeley. Claremont has two shopping streets.

The best Halloween Celebrations in Berkeley ... The pumpkins on Piedmont and Ashby, and the amazing displays on Russell Street.

Claremont and The Uplands is home to Afikomen Judaica, Semifreddi's Bakery (the flagship store is in Kensington circle), Star Grocery, and The Escapist Comic Bookstore

Just across from the magnificent Claremont Resort, on Domingo Avenue, is Rick & Ann's Restaurant, Peet's Coffee and a Fournée bakery..

The key route trains commuter trains once ran as far as the Claremont. I think they stopped right between the tennis courts!

Just west is Elmwood... another of Berkeley's wonderful shopping districts. Above Tunnel Road and the Claremont Hotel is Claremont Hills.
