Carol and I discovered when we travel that we really enjoy an afternoon at a local museum... or a stroll through a gallery.

We've some marvelous museums in the Bay Area, from the Exploratorium for kids of all ages, to the Bay Model in Sausalito, to the USS Hornet (an aircraft carrier reputed to be haunted).

Berkeley has an immense selection of movie theaters... I can think of over a dozen different screens in downtown. The Cerrito Theater in El Cerrito is underway (what a suprise to find there was a theater in El Cerrito)... and it will be done by the same folks who operate the Parkway Speakeasy Theater.

We've excellent libraries too.. Berkeley Main Library has been expanded and updated... and the Albany Library (part of the Alameda County Library System) has a very nice selection of DVD's you can borrow.
